
It’s gone by many names: CoreStates, Wachovia, USPRO, the International Championship. But racers have always called it one thing: Philly. Despite the casual handle, Philly for years determined the U.S. road champion after an exhausting 156-mile slog. In 2006, the national championships moved to Greenville, South Carolina, but Philly remained, as did its two sister events in the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling.
